Turkish stock market crashes amid panic sell-off

ANKARA, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Turkish stock market dropped sharply on Monday and Tuesday due to a panic sell-off, a domino effect of plunging in global markets, the semi-official Anatolia news agency reported on Tuesday.

Battered by the ominous winds blowing from international markets, the benchmark Istanbul Stock Exchange (IMKB) National-100index fell 6.4 percent on Monday, losing 3,113 points and closing at 45,554 points, said the report.

On Tuesday, the IMKB-100 index plummeted to ten-month low in the morning session to 42,943 points. Following a minor recovery at the end of the session, IMKB index closed at 44,305.33 points.
