The lead singer of the British reggae group UB40 has quit the
band amid a bitter row over "management difficulties" which have
made his professional life "intolerable".
Ali Campbell wrote an open letter to fans on the group's website
in which he said the decision to leave after nearly three decades
had been "agonising".
The 48-year-old singer is leaving the Birmingham-based group
after several years of acrimonious in-fighting over his alleged
prioritising of a solo career.
In the letter he said he had been "deeply unhappy with
administrative practices and with many decisions that have been made
