If Your skin, your energy levels and your general well-being are suffering in January, then a detox could be just the thing to get you back to your best.

But if the word detox brings you out in a cold sweat, don't panic. There can be more to the experience than munching on carrots and sipping green tea.

Detoxing can include homeopathy, herbal remedies and beauty treatments, not just changing your diet.

Herbalist Stephen Edwards, from the Lincoln Herbal Treatment Centre, says a sign of needing to detox is feeling groggy, having low energy or having a cold.
