WASHINGTON -- Here's the skinny on the kid's menu: Small as the
portions may be, the meals are not light on calories or artery-
clogging fats that parents should be concerned about, an advocacy
group says.
Some of the kid's meals offered at the nation's best-known chain
restaurants are packed with half or more of a day's supply of
calories and bad fats, according to a report by the Center for
Science in the Public Interest.
A kid's grilled cheese sandwich, fries and soda at Applebee's
contain 1,020 calories. That is two-thirds of the government's
suggested limit for a "low-active" child 4 to 8 years old.
The meal also has 21 grams of saturated and trans fats, four grams
