CUBA CITY, Wis. - Round 2 was much closer, and both teams hope to
stay alive long enough for a Round 3.
The Cuba City Cubans all but sealed their fifth consecutive girls
basketball conference championship with a workmanlike 46-38 victory
over the visiting Mineral Point Pointers on Friday night. With the
victory, the Cubans (13-0, 9-0), who are ranked No. 1 in WIAA
Division 3, completed a season sweep of the Pointers (11-2, 6-2).
But the three-time defending state champions had a much more
difficult time than in the teams'previous meeting. On Dec. 13 in
Mineral Point, the Cubans won by 20.
