Sheelah Gardner-Thorpe, in her letter Visit Lourdes for
spiritual benefits, Points of View, January 24, paints an idyllic
picture of Lourdes as a place of joyous pilgrims having fun as Our
Lady, the Virgin Mary, dispenses her blessings to them. However,
this scenario falls apart very quickly once we realise that
everything about Lourdes is based on a completely unBiblical view of
Mary.
The Roman Catholic Church has two official doctrines about Mary,
neither of which has any basis in the Bible.
The first, dating from 1854, states that Mary was born without
sin and was therefore sinless throughout her life.
If Mary did not sin, and death (as the Bible says) comes through
sin, then logically ...
