A 51-year-old, described as being 'a sad and lonely rather than a dangerous man' was yesterday given a suspended jail sentence for having a stash of child pornography on his computer.

Steelworker Nigel Owen, of Northlands Road, Winterton, came to police attention after he put his computer in for repair in February, 2007.

Bernard Gateshill, prosecuting at Grimsby Crown Court, said: "There was a considerable quantity of pornographic material, including some child pornography."

The shop owner contacted police, and Owen was subsequently arrested.

Owen's computer was examined forensically by police experts, who found 59 indecent images of children. Of these, 54 were at the least serious level, ...
