SCOTLAND will continue to benefit from its clubs handing
opportunities to youth players while England will suffer from
denying homegrown talent the chance to flourish, according to
Hibernian manager John Collins.
On the day Steve McClaren was axed as England head coach,
Collins, who spent six seasons south of the Border with Everton and
Fulham, warned that the unrivalled economic bargaining power of the
Premier League to attract the world's best players would limit
opportunities for young English footballers and damage future
prospects of reviving England's embarrassed national team after they
failed to qualify for Euro 2008.
