Baltimore-based Legg Mason Inc. ended its search for a president
and CEO Monday, when it appointed company executive Mark R. Fetting
to the role.
Fetting will step into the position immediately, replacing Legg
Mason co-founder and CEO Raymond A. "Chip" Mason, who will stay on
as non-executive chairman.
Fetting has been with the company since 2000, most recently as
senior executive vice president, responsible for the company's
international mutual fund unit and managed account businesses.
The appointment of Fetting comes after a 10-month search for a
replacement for Mason, 71.
