Canterbury University academics showed their emotions at proposed
College of Arts cuts during a staff meeting yesterday.
Pro-vice-chancellor (arts) Ken Strongman was challenged over the
relevance of the planned six-week consultation period.
"You can forgive us for thinking that anything anybody has to add
to the debate is meaningless," one staff member said.
"Doesn't it strike you as slightly problematic that you have been
working on this for 16 months and you have given us six weeks?"

Academics also challenged the view that theatre studies was not a
