Don Foertsch, a Lamar, Ind., boat builder, wants to expand his
business in the near future to Tell City, Ind., where he hopes to
lease riverfront property from the city for establishing Tell City
Boat Works.
Chris Kinnett, president and chief executive officer of the Perry
County (Ind.) Economic Development Corp., said Monday that Foertsch
proposes building line boats - large horse-power boats used in
taking multiple barges up and down the river - on the former Maxon
Marine Industries site, which is owned by the city.
Tell City Mayor Barbara Ewing said the city is in negotiations
with Foertsch, who has Corn Island Shipyard in Spencer County.
