Article: Sponge painting hinges on colors, application

Maybe I'm caught up in the past, but isn't there room in our lives for the tried and true? The classics? The one-hit wonders?

I keep up with trends and I know that some painting techniques have fallen by the wayside for solid-color paint and color blocking with hand-painted detailing, and even wall coverings are making a big comeback -- but I still love sponge painting.

I came across this photo of a vignette that my "Room By Room" co- host, Matt Fox, and I set up one day in the conference room at Sherwin Williams. When I saw how sharp the texture of the sponge painting looked with the deep gray color below the chair rail, I was reminded of the beauty of the sponge.
