Roundup: Chadian army intensifies efforts to pacify N'Djamena

YAOUNDE, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Regular Chadian army troops were still in control of the overall situation in N'Djamena by mid-day Monday, but thirty pickups filled with rebels were seen at the northern entrance to the city, French military sources said.

"The army is pretty much in control of the situation here. Theyhave certainly been able to reorganize themselves a little," a French military source said during a telephone interview. "But thefighting is not necessarily over as there is a rebel column of at least thirty pick-up trucks near the northern entrance to the city," said the source.
