The buzz started building so long before the release of Vampire
Weekend's self-titled debut that the backlash had already started
before most people had even heard the music.
"Everything," says keyboardist-producer Rostam Batmanglij with a
laugh on the phone from MTV's Times Square studios, "is pretty much
chaos."
But it's the good kind of chaos. It's the kind that happens when
music fans, critics, influential blogs, and musicians like David
Byrne rhapsodize about a new prospect.
For Batmanglij, singer-guitarist Ezra Koenig, drummer Christopher
Tomson, and bassist Chris Baio, having more buzz than a crowded
Amsterdam coffee shop means there are photos to shoot, interviews to
do, ...
