QUINCY - U.S. Sen. John Kerry loves sushi.

"I eat it like crazy," he says.

That is, he used to.

The Massachusetts senator told The Patriot Ledger on Monday that he went cold turkey on most fish three months ago, after tests revealed that his "mercury levels were sky-high, way above what the EPA level says it ought to be."

Kerry, 64, is by no means alone, given growing public concerns in light of dangerously high levels of mercury in certain fish. Mercury can damage the kidneys and brain, with the risks highest for children and pregnant women.
