Article: Okla. Real Estate Commission seeks higher standards for real estate professionals

The Oklahoma Real Estate Commission is pushing for legislation to raise standards in Oklahoma.

House Bill 2564, by Rep. Steve Martin, R-Bartlesville, would alter Oklahoma's reciprocal agreements with other states regarding real estate licensure.

"If someone is licensed one day in another state, they could also practice in Oklahoma," said Anne Woody, executive director of the Real Estate Commission. "This would allow us to recognize their education, but not their license." The bill would require the successful completion of the applicable Oklahoma state portion of the real estate examination in order to obtain an Oklahoma nonresident license.
