Earlier this year, Danger Mouse created a firestorm around Internet downloading and so-called "mashup" records with a project called the "Grey Album."

It mixed Jay-Z's "Black Album" with the Beatles recording known as the "White Album." EMI, which holds the rights to the "White Album," got a cease-and-desist order against Danger Mouse, but that didn't stop more than 1 million Internet users from downloading the record when stories about the recording, and the case, made it the cause of the day.
