Celebrating 50 years of the Grammy Awards, you have to figure that the celebrities would dress up for such a significant anniversary.

Maybe because there has been a dearth of awards shows this season because of the writers strike, Grammy-goers chose glamour over spectacle. There was no dress-cut-to-there (a la Jennifer Lopez), nor any crazy flowers in the hair (like Imogen Heap last year). The 2008 red carpet sprouted gowns in deep jewel tones of purple or blue or mellow shades like the buttercup yellow worn by Fergie.
