A year ago today Steve and Clare Bright's world fell apart when
their son Edward was rushed into hospital with meningitis. The seven-
year-old's life hung in the balance as surgeons were forced to
amputate parts of both his arms and legs. But since then the
youngster has made a remarkable recovery. Shirley Brooks reports
As Steve and Clare Bright watch their identical twin sons playing
and bickering with each other they can hardly believe that a year
ago today one of them was so close to death.
It was on February 11, 2007, that their son Edward was taken
gravely ill, taken to hospital and diagnosed with the deadly
meningitis bug.
