Article: Mom bribed kids to drink drugged juice, prosecutors say DuPage woman pleads not guilty, asks judge to OK visits with them

A Naperville mom offered her three children $40 each and a can of soda as inducements for them to drink orange juice she had spiked with a prescription anti-anxiety drug, DuPage County prosecutors said Thursday.

The new allegations against 30-year-old Michelle Helgeson came as she appeared in court to enter not guilty pleas to the 12 counts of aggravated battery she faces for allegedly giving her children the tainted drinks March 7.

Helgeson, who is free on bail, also asked Thursday for supervised visits with her children, who are 10, 9 and 4 years old. She was barred following her arrest from contacting the children, who are
