In your Feb. 7 editorial ("Preserving party unity crucial to
winning") you broke down the demographics of voters likely to
support the Democratic candidates. For Barack Obama, you listed
African-Americans, star-struck lefties and inner-city voters.
I must admit the characterization of "star-struck" annoyed me as
a self-described liberal supporting Sen. Obama's candidacy. I
thoroughly appreciate his oratory skills, but I have also listened
to his policy-rich/excitement-low speeches. There is plenty of
substance to back up the excitement that he is capable of
generating. I think that it has been generally accepted that almost
all of the Democratic candidates for president are/were pretty ...
