Article: Willow Street Elementary may be closed indefinitely

District says enrollment is dropping, but parents, recalling school board's promises, are unhappy with loss of neighborhood school.

They were going to tear the elementary school down and rebuild it.

But now the Lampeter-Strasburg School Board is considering shuttering or razing the 84-year-old Willow Street Elementary School with no immediate plans to reconstruct it. The reason: The district, at least for now, no longer needs a fourth elementary school.

A group of Willow Street parents is not happy about the change and plans to tell the school board tonight.
