Residents have said a resounding "NO" to proposals to change the
name of North East Lincolnshire.
Only one in four of residents backed a plan to change the name,
according to a report.
The results of surveys will go before North East Lincolnshire
Cabinet members.
Recommendations in the report are to take no action to change the
name - a move which could have cost taxpayers pounds100,000.
The overwhelming rejection of the proposal was part-voiced on a
Citizens' Panel and through the Grimsby Telegraph's website -
www.thisisgrimsby.co.uk
It had 375 responses compared to NELC's own website, which had
177 responses.
