Strickland will ask automakers to boost investment
Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland told reporters Thursday that either he
or Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher will be in Detroit at least four times a year
to reach out to the auto industry and encourage investment in Ohio.
"I've talked to these auto executives enough to know they are
going through some very difficult times, but they are not giving
up," Strickland said.
Ohio is home to more than 125,000 automotive industry jobs.
In his state of the state speech this week, Strickland pointed
out recent investments by auto companies in Ohio plants including
the announcement by GM that it would pour $69 million into the DMAX
diesel engine plant in Moraine.
