Article: Edwards regarded as 'hot property'

RALEIGH, N.C. -- With the Democratic presidential primary so close, the courtship of former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards has become intense.

New York Sen. Hillary Clinton met privately last week with Edwards at his home outside Chapel Hill. Illinois Sen. Barack Obama is trying to arrange a visit.

One commentator dubbed it "the Edwards primary."

"Right now, Edwards is a hot property," said David "Mudcat" Saunders, a Virginia-based political consultant who advised Edwards. "When two candidates are taking time out of their schedules to go see him, it says a lot about him."
