Derby City Council yesterday outlined how it would reopen the
Playhouse theatre if a rescue plan produced by a consortium of
leading figures at the venue fails. The consortium said it feared
the new way would be at the cost of artistic integrity. Kirsty Green
reports.
Derby is in store for a major shake-up of arts venues if the city
council takes control of the Playhouse theatre.
The authority said it was eager to make use of all the city's
performance space for professionals and amateurs alike.
Its announcement is part of its plans to overhaul the arts
through a scheme it has named Derby Live.
The council has promised it will only put the scheme in place if
