Derby is in store for a major shake-up of arts venues if the city council takes control of the Playhouse theatre.

The authority said it was eager to make use of all the city's performance space for professionals and amateurs alike.

Its announcement is part of its plans to overhaul the arts through a scheme it has named Derby Live.
