Post Office bosses were yesterday accused of holding a sham
consultation on the future of Highland offices.
The official public consultation on the future of 29 branches
throughout the region drew to a close yesterday.
But in the week before the process ended, alternative sites were
being connected to the Post Office communications network. At least
two of the potential replacement sites for post offices earmarked
for closure have been the scene of works by BT.
At Kirkhill residents were surprised and dismayed to see a 30ft
telegraph pole being installed beside the doctors' surgery which is
earmarked to replace the village post office, should the closure go
ahead.
