Now is not the time to change the name of North East Lincolnshire Council.

That was the decision of councillors after receiving a report which said only one in four residents wanted the name to change.

As reported, NELC chief executive George Krawiec wanted to change the name of the council to help re-brand the area - a move which could have cost taxpayers up to pounds100,000.

But after an overwhelming rejection from the public, he recommended that no action was taken.

In a meeting of cabinet members, Mr Krawiec said: "The time has not yet come to change the name of the council.
