WASHINGTON, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama won the Wisconsin primary on Tuesday, CNN projected.

John McCain was projected earlier by the TV channel to lead theRepublican race in the state.

With 12 percent of precincts' ballots calculated, Illinois Senator Barack Obama beat New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton by 55 percent to 44 percent.
