Women from the Caribbean know to look for the salon with the
sign: Dominican.
These salons may as well advertise: "We can handle any type of
hair here." They are the bronco busters of the hair world, the
follicle tamers with no rivals.
Connecticut has about eight of these Dominican salons, according
to Jennifer Drew, founder of RoundBrushHair, a business that
specializes in Dominican hair products and in helping customers find
Dominican salons across the country.
