The fishing heritage of the Banffshire coast will be firmly in
the spotlight at a major boat festival in the north-east.
Organisers of the annual Scottish Traditional Boat Festival at
Portsoy are planning to celebrate the traditional industry this
summer.
The festival programme unveiled today reveals an array of events
in June from music to food, crafts, fun runs and nautical
activities.
Festival chairman Roger Goodyear said: "Fishing has always played
an integral role in this area with Portsoy boasting a buoyant salmon
and herring industry in its heyday.
"The festival this year will celebrate the proud history of the
area in terms of its fishing heritage.
