Article: Controversial capital developer in GBP 4,000 donation to Labour

A DEVELOPER behind the controversial Caltongate scheme in Edinburgh made a GBP 4,000 donation to Labour before last year's elections, it emerged yesterday.

London-based Mountgrange sponsored a champagne reception at a dinner attended by Tony Blair, the former prime minister, while its scheme was at a crucial stage in the planning process.

Labour was in charge of Edinburgh City Council at the time of the event, staged to raise funds for the party, in February 2007.
