SOME 100 patients at Carstairs state hospital are to be moved to
lower security institutions in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
The plans to cut the bed numbers from 240 to 140 by 2011 will see
the patients distributed between the Orchard Clinic in Morningside,
part of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital, and Rowanbank Clinic in
Glasgow.
Two thirds of the patients at the high-security psychiatric
hospital at Carstairs are referred from court or prison and ...
