The view from the Cubs dugout isn't always the best for watching balls and strikes, but not so when it comes to the view of the right- field line at Wrigley Field.

That was why Cubs manager Dusty Baker felt strongly in challenging first-base umpire Charlie Reliford's call in the first inning Friday that gave White Sox outfielder Ross Gload a grand slam.

"I could tell how adamant Sammy [Sosa] was," Baker said of the right fielder, who was among the Cubs motioning foul ball.

"We have a deeper angle than the first-base ump, and we could see it go foul. I said, Charlie, that ball was foul.' He said Dusty, I thought it was fair, but I'll ask [the other three umpires]."'
