Ilija Lupi'' Lupulesku may be the perfect symbol for table tennis
in Chicago this weekend.
The city will host a multi-pronged celebration of table tennis at
Navy Pier.
And don't call it Ping-Pong. There is no need for an international
incident.
The Killerspin U.S. Open, including the Killerspin International
Table Tennis Federation Pro Tour's final event before the Olympics,
runs through Sunday. The pro tour quarterfinals are today, the
semifinals and finals Saturday.
When Mayor Daley says that the City of Chicago is pleased to
welcome'' the events, he probably really means it. This is the mayor
who once had table tennis tables placed in public places for summer
use.
