THE CONTROVERSIAL Campbell Live interview with an alleged Waiouru
Museum medal thief will put more strain on a programme already
suffering a New Year hit in the current affairs ratings war.
Campbell Live's late start on January 30 - two weeks after Close
Up, and after extensive coverage on TVNZ of Sir Edmund Hillary's
death - gave its competitor an early ratings lead.
Nielsen Media Research figures reveal Close Up's average viewing
audience (5+) was 399,600 between January 28 and February 20,
compared to Campbell Live's 163,400.
Campbell Live lost more viewers to Close Up's target 25-54 age
group with figures showing an average viewership drop of 22% from
January 30 to February 20 ...
