Fortnightly rubbish collections will not be introduced in North
East Lincolnshire.
Despite the council saying they need to reduce the amount of
waste that goes to landfill, the strong opposition towards alternate
weekly collections means they will not be introduced in the borough.
Instead, they want to increase the number of households who
recycle from 26 per cent in 2006/2007 to 35 per cent by 2010.
As part of a long-term campaign, the council is considering:
Expanding the range of bring-sites to collect plastic bottles.
Expanding the existing kerbside collection scheme for garden
waste.
Encouraging and making it more convenient for more households to
reduce the waste they produce and ...
