Hong Kong encourages social enterprises to run historic buildings

HONG KONG, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government on Friday asked non-profit socialorganizations to propose social enterprises to run seven historic buildings under a revitalization scheme.

Successful applicants would get government funding support, which includes a grant to cover the cost of major renovation, and another to meet the starting costs and operating deficits of the proposed social enterprise for the first two years.

The grant to meet starting costs and deficits could be up to 5 million HK dollars (0.64 million U.S. dollars) for each of the buildings under the pilot plan, said ...
