Article: Minister says healthy food industry is in Scotland's national interest

Scottish food initiatives such as Taste of Grampian were hailed last night by Richard Lochhead, the cabinet secretary for rural affairs and the environment.

He was speaking at a Scottish Council for Development and Industry influencers' dinner at the Norwood Hall Hotel, in Aberdeen.

Mr Lochhead said: "We want the freshest, finest future for Scottish food.

"Supporting food production and manufacturing in Scotland is in our national interest. A healthy future for the industry contributes to sustainable economic growth in Scotland. There are some excellent food initiatives happening across Scotland such as Taste of Grampian.
