Article: Daley tells Tribune Co. to prove it Mayor wants Cubs owner to show bills for Wrigley Field repairs

Mayor Daley demanded Tuesday that the Tribune Co. produce the bills to prove that it spent millions of dollars to repair potentially hazardous pedestrian and bleacher ramps at 90-year-old Wrigley Field without the required building permits.

"If they did it, they can show the bills," Daley said. "You would expect it when terra cotta falls off a building. When a window goes out in a building, you expect that. When scaffolding falls, you expect that. . . . We expect them [the Tribune Co.] to do the same thing."

While one influential alderman has accused the Tribune of lying about doing the work, Daley refused to go that far.
