Article: Wine, etc.: Welcome spring with sauvignon blanc

As spring approaches, we like to get ready for a new season with sauvignon blanc. One of the most aromatic grape varieties in the world, sauvignon blancs can range dramatically in style. Some are herbaceous, others blended with semillon or oak can be round.

Some of the most pure renditions of the grape come from the Loire Valley of France where sauvignon blanc can be crisp and minerally. Graves in Bordeaux is enjoying rejuvenated success and perhaps the most nouveau region for sauvignon blanc is New Zealand, where the wines tend to be very herbaceous.

Sauvignon blanc is an excellent wine to just sip, but it is a nice match to citrus sauces and most fowl.
