DAYTON -- University of Dayton basketball coach Brian Gregory
believes winning close games requires a few essentials, and his team
mastered practically all of them during tight encounters through the
first three months of the season.
After knocking off Charlotte 69-64 Feb. 6, the Flyers were 6-0 in
games decided by five points or fewer -- 7-0 counting a 68-57
overtime win over Saint Louis.
"At the end of games, you have to be able to take care of the
ball and make free throws," Gregory said. "And defensively, you've
got to be able to get stops and finish possessions with rebounds.
... This team has done all those things."
Well, not lately.
The Flyers have lost three of their last four ...
