NEW YORK -- In my view, a day of comfort should involve at
least one helping of macaroni and cheese. Also pudding. And peanut
butter. The point is, every so often it's nice to go on hiatus from
one's regular diet and reconnect with some favorite comfort foods.
So I decided to take a day off recently and do just that. I also
picked the perfect locale: Manhattan, south of Union Square, where
my daughter, Stephanie, attends college. We would combine a little
father-daughter time with some culinary indulgence.
After all, comfort food abounds in New York. One can find places
that cater to breakfast cereal fanatics, soup fiends and fried
chicken aficionados. Those don't happen to be my personal ...
