Beth Kerns' new motto in life may very well be: If you're going to do something, do it right.

Not only did the West Side resident win the third annual Heart & Soul Dip Dinner's macaroni-and-cheese cooking contest this past weekend, but it was also the first time she's ever made macaroni. When it came to her recipe, she didn't pussyfoot around there, either.

"It has eight kinds of cheese in it and two sticks of butter," she said, failing to mention the six cups of half-and-half and a dozen eggs.

This is what one might call an unfair advantage. Those other mac and cheeses didn't stand a chance.

Her winning dish won the People's Choice vote and was also named tops by celebrity judges jazz ...
