Article: Council takes back city centremanagement

Derby's city centre manager is to be brought under the control of the city council in a new partnership being set up by the authority.

City Centre Management Derby was created 12 years ago and was originally run by the council.

Its aim was to promote business in the city centre to ensure economic success.

But Derby was without a centre manager for three years from 2002 while plans for redevelopment were being drawn up.

In 2005, the Chamber of Trade stepped in and said it would take control of city centre management in an agreement with the council.
