A Lawrence County construction company has been sued for alleged
breach of contract for halting work at a camp for underprivileged
children being built by retired U.S. Steel Corp. chairman Thomas J.
Usher and his wife, Sandra.
The suit, filed Feb. 19 in Westmoreland County by the Pittsburgh
law firm Thorp Reed & Armstrong, alleges that New Castle-based Ken
Shiderly Construction Inc. did not complete the project at Laurel
Mountain Christian Camp and overcharged for the work it did last
year.
In 2006, a nonprofit organization formed by the Ushers bought the
117-acre campground in Ligonier and Cook townships for nearly $1.4
million from the now-defunct Girl Scout Council of Westmoreland. The ...
