DAYTON -- University of Dayton senior guard Brian Roberts stepped
to the free-throw line with 31.5 seconds to go in overtime at La
Salle last week, his basketball team leading by two.
Roberts had been practically automatic on the road, making 34-of-
36 foul shots this season. But he botched the front end of a 1-and-
1, and UD gave up a late 3-pointer and dropped its fifth straight
game in enemy confines.
Fifth-year coach Brian Gregory knew playing on the road in the
Atlantic 10 would be a grind, but the Flyers have gone from being
nationally ranked to fighting just to make the A-10 tournament
because they've been so feeble away from home -- sometimes losing in
unexpected ways.
