France to maintain military presence in Africa: defense minister

PARIS, Feb. 29 (Xinhua) -- French Defense Minister Herve Morin Friday reiterated that France would continue to have a military presence in Africa despite President Sarkozy's intentions to renegotiate all military cooperation agreements with the continent.

"Obviously, we will continue to have a military presence in Africa, to conduct training, to take part in the organization of African forces," the defense minister, who appeared to be expounding on remarks made by President Nicolas Sarkozy, said during a radio interview.
