I am surprised to learn that Tonya Harding has taken up
journalism.
What else explains last week's knee-capping of Sen. John McCain
by The New York Times? Obviously, the bad girl of figure skating has
been given a corner office at Times headquarters.

I didn't intend to write a column about John McCain and the New
York Times. I thought a columnist more gifted at turning the clever
phrase -- like Leonard Pitts of the Miami Herald -- would say it
better (and I was right). Or a writer like Froma Harrop of the
Providence Journal would do a better job of zeroing in on the
inherent sexism of the ...
