Kids Company gets Pounds 12m lifeline over three years

AWARD-WINNING London charity Kids Company today won a victory in
its battle to stay open after the Government handed it a Pounds 12
million lifeline.
Children's Secretary Ed Balls said the new three-year funding
deal was part of a wider move to boost organisations dealing with
disadvantaged and vulnerable young people.
The Standard highlighted last year that the charity was under
threat because public funding had dried up.
Based in south London, Kids Company workers act like quasi
parents, arranging everything from a visit to a dentist, to ongoing
therapy.
Boss Camila Batmanghelidjh works with young people who have
slipped through the net and whose parents are often unable to look
after them ...
